J. Jon Bruno, Former Bishop to LA Episcopal Diocese, Dies at 74 – NBC Los Angeles
Rev. J. Jon Bruno, former bishop to the Episcopal diocese of Los Angeles, has died on the age of 74, his household stated Saturday.
Bruno died of pure causes at his dwelling on Friday, the household stated.
“Our household and the numerous others who knew and beloved Jon have been blessed along with his magnificent life. We’re gladdened to know that he has been greeted by St. Peter and is within the loving arms of God,” his spouse Mary stated in a press release. “We ask that our household is included in your prayers and our privateness revered on this time of grief.”
J. Jon Bruno was born Nov. 17, 1946, in Los Angeles. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1987 and served in his function as bishop to the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles from 2002 till his retirement in 2017.
Bruno retired after a panel of officers from the nationwide Episcopal Church voted to droop him for 3 years over a dispute wherein Bruno tried and didn’t promote the St. James the Nice church in Newport Seashore to a developer.
